Help!, The Beatles

🎡 Title track. JOY! Fun, nice-spirited, specifically mentions their emotional growth, and not about romantic love! Perhaps this signals the change I’ve been looking for…?
🎡 The night before - oh forget it, apparently not.
🎡 You’re gonna lose that girl - Oh here we go… they’ve learned something about relationships and now know that they have half ownership of….. oh shit no. Other guys can fuck up, but apparently they can’t. And treating the girl like revenge fodder??? Oh hell no.
Honest to God, the number of times that I have been fooled by a fairly decent chorus, just to get into the verse and get disappointed all over again? Sigh.
🎡Ticket to Ride - this is one of the ones that I was specifically talking about, when I was lamenting how they get so close to figuring it out. He knows that she’s leaving him because he has made mistakes. But then she’s supposed to “do right by him” anyway? Just so he’s not sad? Ugh. Regardless, I really really like this song, musically. I also, unrelatedly, really really like this board game.
🎡Act Naturally - cute
🎡 Its Only Love - I hope someone feels really badly about the line, “ just the sight of you makes night time bright.” Because it’s bad writing and someone should feel bad.
🎡 You Like Me Too Much - nope. I can’t do it. I can’t even touch this one. Negative 10000 points
🎡Yesterday - delightful. I mean, I don’t believe him that she left and didn’t tell him why. I bet she told him 4700 times and he didn’t listen. He was too busy accusing her of making time with the guy next door. But the song is lovely and I have no actual complaints. I will probably end up trying to learn this on ukulele or something.
🎡 I’m Down - apparently after I was done with this album, it started playing other Beatles songs. And apparently this was a b-side? Well, as soon as I heard it, I said, out loud, “I’m Down Long Tall Sally.” And then, after feeling embarrassed for taking to myself, wondered why those songs were linked in my head. The internet informed me that Heart used to sing them together, and I adored Heart, so that’s where I heard them together. And then the Internet told me that Paul McCartney wrote this and answer too Long tall Sally. So apparently, that’s why Heart sang them together. Anyway, I like them both.
